What is HeartMath®?

HeartMath® is a research-based system that studies how the heart influences the brain, nervous system, and emotions.

Through decades of data, the HeartMath Institute has shown that our heart rhythms reflect our emotional state, and that by using simple breathing and focus techniques, we can create a pattern called coherence: a smooth, harmonious rhythm that signals balance throughout the body.

When we are in coherence:

  • Our body conserves energy instead of wasting it through stress.

  • Our brain receives clearer signals for focus and intuition.

  • Our emotions stabilize, and we feel more grounded, compassionate, and present.

HeartMath translates this universal wisdom — lead with the heart — into a practice supported by biofeedback, neuroscience, and physiology.

Why the heart?

Think the idea of the heart as the “seat of the soul” is just poetic fluff? As a matter of fact, modern science shows your heart is deeply involved in shaping your mental, emotional, and physical state.

How Does HeartMath Help?

  • A group of four people having a meeting in a modern conference room with a glass wall, laptops, and a TV screen that displays 'Commercial break in progress'.

    Workplace & Performance

Companies bring in HeartMath for employee wellness, resilience training, and burnout prevention.

It’s used with first responders, healthcare workers, and even athletes to improve focus under pressure.

  • Stack of seven smooth stones outdoors with blurred water and sunlight reflections in the background.

    Healthcare & Mental Health

Integrated in hospitals, counseling, and coaching as a complementary tool for patients dealing with chronic stress, PTSD, depression, or trauma recovery.

  • A man with a serious expression surrounded by scattered sticky notes on and around his face and body, with some notes on the wall behind him. The notes contain various words and symbols like 'TAKE A BREAK', 'EAT SLEEP', 'STOP', 'Chill', and checkmarks.

    Stress & Anxiety Management

Individuals use HeartMath techniques (like Heart-Focused Breathing, Quick Coherence®) to calm their nervous system quickly.

  • A person hiking uphill on a grassy mountain slope with a backpack, silhouetted against a bright sky.

    Personal Growth & Resilience

Individuals use it to improve self-regulation, sleep, decision-making, and overall well-being.
